Global Betting and Gaming Consultants believes online bingo games can eventually constitute as much as 25% of the international online gambling industry.
The company's chairman Warwick Bartlett claims bingo played online is still a young industry but estimates that by the year 2012 it will account for 25% of worldwide gambling with potential profits of over $2 billion.
At the recent Bingo Summit in London he highlighted the role played by broadband in the growth of bingo online, claiming: "As broadband penetration increases, people become more conscious about the cost of driving to real-world bingo halls.'' He added: "When they find that they can't smoke when they get there, playing online bingo from home becomes more and more attractive. From a customer point of view it is a great gambling proposition at a very low cost.''
